A 49-year-old female hiker did not return from a hike to the top of Mt. Baldy in the Angeles National Forest on Saturday, Dec. 4. After her roommate reported her missing on Sunday, rescue teams from San Bernardino and Los Angeles Counties began searching for her. The East Valley team was requested to assist on the search on Tuesday. Twelve members responded. Four alpine qualified members were flown to the 10,069 foot summit of Mt. Baldy to search the Backbone Trail and down the east side. The other team members hiked up to the Sierra Hut to search the "Bowl" area.

Six members stayed into Wednesday and were assigned to search the northwest slopes of Mt. Baldy.

The body subject was spotted on the northwest side of the summit in a very steep ravine by a helicopter crew.
