Around 10:00 hours on Sunday, 05/13/12, a 46-year-old man was dropped off at the Simi Valley Metrolink station to spend the day hiking in the hills to the south. The subject was reported overdue when he did not return home in the evening. The East Valley team was called out just after midnight to search for the subject. The team responded and began searching the trails and fire roads on foot, ATV, and motorcycles. The Ventura County Sheriff's helicopter also responded to the search. At daybreak, additional resources were added to the search including the Fillmore team and the canine team. Most of the maze of hiking trails and dirt roads were covered.

In the early afternoon, it was determined by the Simi Valley Police Detectives that the subject was not in the search area and was OK.
